New Software from SSCS Streamlines Mix & Match Promotions While Improving Inventory Control

Salinas, CA (December 12, 2008) -- Service Station Computer Systems, Inc. (SSCS) is pleased to announce the release of its multi-item promotions package—incorporating support for both mix & match and combo promotions—as part of its Computerized Daily Book (CDB) back office program. The multi-item promotions feature gives retailers a way to program mix & match and combo promotions from their back office system (BOS).

The software streamlines promotion management several ways:

  • Easy set up and modification of promotions from any PC running the CDB, enabling pricing decisions to be initiated where they are most convenient.
  • Clear and accurate reporting that enables the user to make educated decisions on the effectiveness of the promotion.
  • Enhanced inventory control as each item sold in the promotion is recorded accurately; adjustments do not have to be made after the fact, reducing human error and increasing the accuracy of line item sales reports.

“Our multi-item promotions software is designed to reduce inventory headaches pertaining to the management of mix & match and combo items,” says Al Stoeberl, SSCS vice president of sales and marketing. “Today an operator must account for these items by reviewing the electronic journal and creating a spreadsheet to analyze sales. This is no longer the case.”

The software’s improved functionality and sophistication comes with no sacrifice to usability.

Multi-item promotions are supported by POS systems that recognize when designated items meet or do not meet the conditions of a multi-item promotion, including begin and end date. These systems include the Gilbarco® Passport®, the Wayne® Nucleus® and the VeriFone® Sapphire™.
