Salinas, CA (January 9, 2009) -- Service Station Computer Systems,
Inc. (SSCS) is pleased to announce the introduction of the RS-Poll Interface for
the Radiant Systems Radiant 6, a leading point-of-sale (POS) system for c-store
operations, conventional service stations and self-serve stations. The RS-Poll
Interface passes sales data from the store’s Radiant 6 POS system to the SSCS
Computerized Daily Book (CDB) back office system (BOS). Conversely, the
interface passes data from the CDB to the POS.
The RS-Poll Interface makes sending and receiving large amounts of data easy.
Using a direct-connect cable, data is passed between the Radiant’s controller
and a networked PC running CDB, if both machines are on-site. If the Radiant’s
controller is off-site, data is passed between the controller and the networked
PC using a pair of dial-up modems to create a connection.
With RS-Poll, retrieving fuel and non-fuel sales data generated by the POS is
a matter of a few simple steps. So is posting that data to the CDB. Programming
the Radiant 6 from the PC running CDB—whatever its location—is likewise
possible, a capability that includes management functions such as report
generation, inventory adjustment and fuel price updating. The same workstation
can upload new site parameters and prices for all the operation’s Radiant 6
controllers, assuring uniformity among sites and significantly reducing the time
required to make changes. Best of all, this additional functionality does not
disrupt work flow at the POS.
“Fuel retailing has grown more complex and operators need sophisticated tools
that add efficiencies without getting in the way of how they do business,”
states SSCS vice president of sales and marketing Al Stoeberl. “The RS-Poll
Interface addresses this requirement by facilitating tight management control
from the convenience of a central location—even in enterprises with remote
stores. It’s also a great way for CDB users to leverage the powerful features of
the Radiant 6.”
