Tip of the Month

Maximizing Efficiency with Hand-Held Data Processing

Tip

Print bar codes in the same order that you scanned them so you can place them faster

Overview

Beginning with CDBWin 7.4.2 and Hand-Held Data Processing (HDP) 6.0.3.4, you can print out a set of bar code labels in the exact order you scanned the items in your store. This saves time when you walk the store and affix labels to the items on your shelves.

The feature works for Direct Store Deliveries (DSDs) on both the PDT3100 and the MC3090. For scanning inventories (INV), the feature works only with the MC3090.

Using the Feature

To save scanned items in sort order:

  1. Perform a DSD or INV (MC3090 only) as you normally would with the Hand-Held Terminal (HHT).
  2. Send the data in the HHT to HDP.
  3. From HDP, on the View menu, click either Direct Store Delivery or Physical Inventory and highlight the session for which you wish to save items in the order they were scanned.
  4. With the item highlighted, on the File menu, click Save Scan Items/Sort Order.
  5. From CDBWin, on the Reports menu, click Items/Inventory > Barcodes.
  6. In the filter window that appears, select the Use Saved HDP Scan Items/Sort Order check box:

  7.
  8. Make sure the remaining active filters on this window are set the way you desire and that your forms are loaded correctly in the printer.
  9. Click Print. Your labels print out in the order they were scanned and you can begin affixing them to items in your store.
