Using the CDBWin Dashboard

Tip: How to place your business-critical information right in front of you.

Overview

CDBWin processes business-critical information to help you manage precisely and profitably. Yet in a fast-paced retail environment, trends and results can change in the blink of an eye. This makes it important to place timely performance data right in front of you so you can react quickly and make the necessary adjustments, ensuring you keep your business profitable and in control. The CDBWin Dashboard feature does this, using easy-to-read alert gauges and profitability graphs displayed right on the CDBWin main window:

Up to six data "cells" are displayed in a Dashboard set: one graph or four gauges per cell. The Dashboard allows you select the information on which you want to report, with data selected from the following categories:

Gauges (display Alerts) Graphs (display report information)
Discounts Count Department Sales Gross Profit
Discounts Value Department Sales Margin
Max Sales Variance Department Sales Money
Voids Count Fuel Grade Margin
Voids Value Fuel Grade Sales Cost
Level/Grade price margin by Level/Grade Fuel Grade Sales Money
Tank Inventory variance for each Tank Fuel Grade Sales Volume
  Fuel Grade Sales Gross Profit
  Fuel Total Sales Money
Fuel and Non-Fuel Sales Gross Profit
  Fuel and Non-Fuel Sales Money
  Tank Accumulated Over/Short

Creating a Dashboard Set

Creating a Dashboard set is done in a few easy steps:

  1. In CDBWin, on the Setup menu, click Dashboard. The Dashboard set up window appears:

  2. Each Dashboard set you create must be assigned an ID. In the Dashboard ID box, type the ID (limited to 35 alphanumerical characters) for the Dashboard set (a default set named Standard comes with the system). After typing the ID, click Edit.
  3. The Dashboard setup window appears:

The setup window has six panels that correspond to the six Dashboard cells. For example, what you select to display in the upper left of the setup window will appear in the upper left of the Dashboard.
  4. Work through this window to select the information your Dashboard set will display. Use as many of the six panels as you need to:

    Type
    — Select one of the three option buttons for the panel: Graph, Gauge or None.
    • Graph
Report — Use this combo box to select the kind of graph you wish to display (see above list ).
Date Range — Select a date span for the graph, either 7 Days or 30 Days.
Show —This combo box becomes active if, in the Report combo box, a selection is chosen that itemizes data by Fuel Grade. You can use this combo box to display data for an individual grade or All grades.
    • Gauge — When you select Gauge you commit the Dashboard to display four gauges within one of the six areas of the Dashboard. Use the combo boxes to select the four trend data types you wish to display (see above list).
    • None — Select None to blank out the portion of the Dashboard corresponding to the panel.

Other Dashboard Notes

  • Multiple Dashboard sets can be created. Select the one you wish to display by using the Dashboard ID combo box in the upper left of the main Dashboard display.
  • Use the Delete button in the lower left-hand corner of the Dashboard Setup window to delete the currently displayed Dashboard set.
  • Dashboard data is continuously updated in real time. Click the Refresh button at the top of the main Dashboard display to ensure you are seeing the latest data.
